Usui Reiki is named for Mikao Usui, the founder of the Usui System of Natural Healing, known as Usui Shiki Ryoho in Japanese, meaning the Usui System of Natural Healing. This is the “official” name of what we call Reiki in the West. This system is the first healing system that is the foundation of all the other branches of Reiki that have been developed from it over the past 25 years.
RCGW teaches in the “traditional Western ” style, called Usui Shiki Ryoho, supplemented with the Eastern style, Usui Reiki Ryoho. Our classes have four attunements for Level One, two attunements for Level Two, and one attunement for Level Three. Attunements connect the student to the energy, sort of like tuning a radio to a particular station. We allow additional time for practice in all of our classes, so that you leave them knowing how to use what you have learned. We also encourage our students to come to our Reiki Shares, Practice Groups and Student Clinics, and to return as class assistants to show them what it is like to develop and teach a Reiki course, or session interns, to give them professional practical experience once they have completed their Master training in at least two modalities.
