We have a number of ways that you can gain valuable experience after your training at the Reiki Center of Greater Washington. All of these begin after you have completed a second-level course (Usui Reiki II, Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki II or Integrated Energy Therapy (R) Intermediate).

You begin as a Student Assistant, helping in classes of the type that you have taken and are planning to eventually teach. The assisting usually involves setting and cleaning up before and after classes, reviewing the classes in the lecture and hands-on periods, helping the instructor during attunements, and helping to create a supportive environment for the students by bringing them water or tissues, etc. We encourage prospective Master students to assist at a minimum of two classes before beginning their Master studies.

Apprenticing as an Associate Practitioner

On an annual basis, (or as Associates complete their respective apprenticeships), RCGW invites applicants to its Associate Practitioner Program, if they want to become professional practitioners. It provides the opportunity for Associates to provide paid healings at a reduced rate at RCGW for between 8 and 10 hours per week.

The Associate participates as an RCGW staff member and documents and discusses sessions with the Director with whom he or she is working. At the satisfactory conclusion of the apprenticing program, the Associate discusses his or her experiences with the Center Director and becomes eligible to be a practitioner at the center, subject to RCGW policies and available space. Associate Practitioners are required to receive a minimum of one paid session with an RCGW practitioner each month.

Associate Practitioner applicants are encouraged to have completed at least three of the following before applying:
  • Usui Reiki I training
  • Usui Reiki II training
  • Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki I-II training
  • Gendai Reiki I training
  • Gendai Reiki II training
  • Integrated Energy Therapy (R) Basic, Intermediate and Advanced training
  • Master-level training in Usui Reiki, Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki, Gendai Reiki, or Karuna Reiki (R).
In addition to its Associate Practitioner program, RCGW also has an  Teacher Apprentice program. This program provides the opportunity for Master-level student apprentices to co-teach courses at the center with the RCGW Director. Each Teacher Apprentice is responsible for observing one course (of each type) and co-teaching three courses (of each type). At the satisfactory conclusion of the program, the Teacher Apprentice becomes eligible to teach courses that can be advertised through RCGW on their own or at the center, subject to RCGW policies and available space.
Teacher Associate applicants are encouraged to have completed at least two of the following before applying:
  • Usui Reiki Master training
  • Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki Master training
  • Gendai Reiki Gokuikaiden training
  • Karuna Reiki ® Master training
  • Lightarian Reiki ™ training
  • Integrated Energy Therapy (R) Master-Instructor training.
